New Owners First Week

MY E-MAIL IS WORMPEOPLE@AOL.COM FOR AND PICTURES TO BE POSTED IN GALLERY OR IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE ADDED TO MAILING LIST.

Well finally we were able to finalize the sale of Brinkman’s Bait and Tackle and the new owner is up and running. With the long delay we are still waiting to hear the date of the license machine. So if you don’t need a license for the next couple weeks please hold out and we would appreciate your business. If you’re heading out right away we are recommending Johnson’s up on State Road in Croydon.

Another thing Mike has not gotten hooked up yet is the credit card machine. We are hoping by next Wednesday that will be taking care of. Never thought such simple things would be so difficult. So if you are coming in please bring cash.

Now for the fishing report. With the warm weather the ice in south Jersey and the local lakes has gotten soft. There are a few guys still getting out early in the week but I would really check it out close to shore before heading out.

I had three different reports from the Pennypack with all three guys catching fish. The first was at Rhawn Street with the customer picking up a decent rainbow with a nightcrawler. Second was a fisherman above Pine Road with mealworms and wax worms catching bluegills and rock bass. Third was at the Boulevard with this fisherman catching one carp 11 pounds on corn.

Core Creek I had a couple reports with crappies and perch hitting small jigs, small minnows and wax worms. One fisherman drilled holes off the dock and jigged through the holes off the dock. The ice here was only 3 inches. The second fished the spillway catching plenty of perch.

Penn Warner last weekend was still great on the ice but I have not heard a word since. The guys over the weekend were catching perch, crappies, pickerel and pike. Minnows, spoons and Rapala ice jigs were working best.

Nockamixon has been another good spot but I again don’t know how thick the ice is. But here last weekend they picked up plenty of crappies and bluegills with smaller minnows and jigs tipped with mealworms and wax worms.

The best ice fishing is still from the Pocono’s north. Shohola has been great for pickerel, yellow perch and bluegills with live minnows, shiners, Rapala ice jigs and different small ice jigs tipped with bait. Belmont has still been very good for pickerel and pike fishing live minnows and Rapala ice jigs. One fisherman on Duck Harbor picked up a few rainbows with Swedish Pimples and Kastmasters.   Brady’s Lake Frank had a good weekend picking up over 100 panfish all with wax worms and jigs.

The only reports from South Jersey have been guys fishing the rivers and spillways. One fisherman at the Sweetwater Casino picked up a bunch of pickerel last weekend with spinners and minnows. At Batso they did well with smaller pickerel with minnows, spinners and twister tails. Below Lake Lenape one fisherman did very good with white perch and 12 to 14 inch stripers with minnows, grass shrimp and small bucktails.

Shore reports are down to the few guys that got out for blackfish, cod, pollock and tilefish. These guys are doing best with clams, squid, strip mackerel and diamond jigs.

Well that is all I have for you this week. Mike is in the store everyday now so please stop in say hello. I’m still doing rod repair so this is a good time to check out your rods for bent, broken or grooved guides and tips. It takes a couple weeks to do guide work and better find now than the day you need it.
