Again no settlement as of today but it is not looking like it is going to happen on Monday late afternoon. So we will be open for the weekend and Monday morning. Mike should be starting his new career starting Tuesday next week. So we still don’t have fishing licenses and are only accepting cash. Mike hopes to have his credit card machine up and running in the week but we are not sure what date his license machine will be in. But I will post as soon as I know. It has been a long process but I’m hoping everyone can hold out till mid February for his or her licenses.
Fishing report has been down to a few reports. Penn Warner has been on fire for perch, crappies, pickerel and pike through the ice. Bigger minnows, was worms; mealworms and Rapala ice minnows have been working best. You should have good ice for the start of the weekend but I’m not sure how long with warmer weather coming in. Levittown Lake one fisherman has been picking up a few trout and crappies fishing smaller jigs, Swedish pimples and smaller Rapala ice jigs. Nockamixon several guys have been picking up good numbers of perch and crappies fishing small minnows and jigs through the ice. One fisherman even picked up a 20 inch pickerel with a live minnow.
Other ice fishing reports have been coming from up state. One fisherman on Belmont has been catching some nice pike and pickerel fishing live minnows and Rapala ice jigs. One other fisherman in Wayne County did very well on yellow perch and pickerel on Duck Harbor Pond. In the Pocono’s one fisherman did well on bluegills and perch on White Deer Lake fishing wax worms and smaller minnows. Shohola has been another great spot to head for panfish and pickerel fishing live minnow, smaller metal and Rapala ice jigs.
The other reports came from south Jersey with guys doing well on Union Lake, Dennisville Lake, Batso Lake and Hammond Lake. All these places have been good for pickerel, yellow perch and bluegills fishing minnows, small jigs, twister tails and Rapala ice jigs. Below the mill at Batso guys did great with pickerel fishing live minnows and spinners in the fast water. Same below the dam at Lake Lenape with plenty of white perch and pickerel hitting minnows, spinner and twister tails.
The only saltwater fishing has been up North Jersey with boats running out for bigger blackfish, cod, ling, pollock and monster porgies. Most of these fish are being caught with clams, strip mackerel and diamond jigs.
Well that is all I have for you this week. I hope this process goes through on Monday and it would be great to stop in and see the new guy next week. Bill
