I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Years. I also want to thank everyone for another year’s business and hope next year is another profitable year. I’m also still hoping that someone will come forward to keep the Brinkman’s Bait and Tackle going for years to come.
Fishing has really slowed up with all this cold weather. Penn Warner has been one of the spots cold weather does not matter. Chuck and Jay have still been doing very good on perch, crappies and bass fishing live minnows. Chuck had one bass last week between 5 and 6 pounds. Tim fishing off one of the docks picked up 2 northern pike both over 28 inches early in the week. He caught both these fish with top water baits. One other fisherman had a great day catching 12 to 14 inch crappies all with live minnows in Manor Lake. One fisherman off the ramp at Core Creek picked up a nice rainbow trout with rainbow power bait. This fish was 15 inches. He also caught 15 bluegills and perch with small minnows and wax worms. One the dock across from the ramp another fisherman caught a bunch of small crappies with white marabou jigs. Jim said Levittown Lake is slow but in the past 2 weeks he has picked up 5 crappies, 1 small bass and a 12-inch brown trout. Kastmasters, Swedish Pimples, Senko worms and live minnows working best. Jerry out at Marsh Creek is still doing well with bigger perch, smallmouth and largemouth bass with plenty of pickerel mixed in. Bigger minnows, Rapala jigging lures and suspended crankbaits working best. John has fished several days off the Nockamixon dam with minnows, spinner baits and jigging metal. Three weekends he has only caught 2 smallmouth bass 2 to 4 pounds.
Talked to Tom the other day fishing Round Valley catching a few lake trout trolling umbrella rigs and flashers with strip herring and chunked up anchovies. With all the high winds when he can’t get out in his boat he has been fishing bank fishing Spruce Run catching crappies, perch and bass with 3 and 4 inch Senko worms. Richie had his grandchildren out with live minnows catching pickerel on Lake Lenape. Mark fishing the spillway out of Batso Lake has been doing great on 12 to 17 inch pickerel fishing spinners, twister tails and live minnows.
Saltwater action has still been very good but Mother Nature has been kicking the fisherman asses. The striper run has seemed to move south with the best fishing Sea Isle, Ocean City, Atlantic City and even Cape May. Problem has been most of these bass have been 20 to 24 inches. There are still some bigger fish being picked up north but all out in boats fishing Mojo rigs, umbrella rigs, bunker spoons and TRC spoons. Sea Bass and Black fishing has been still very good off the jetties and off shore for bigger fish.
I wish I had more to report but can only type what I hear. Again everyone have a great holiday and again anyone interested in jumping into a business give Bill a call and we can set something up for a sit down. Bill
