MY E-MAIL IS WORMPEOPLE@AOL.COM FOR AND PICTURES TO BE POSTED IN GALLERY OR IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE ADDED TO MAILING LIST.

Fishing report is going to be much shorter this week with tons of guys heading out over the holiday weekend but I really had few come back with any reports. Myself Helen and I were out on Tuesday and Wednesday with quite a mixed bag. Tuesday Helen picked up our last slot fish of the season. That fish plus another 13 catfish turned out to be a pretty good day. All the fish were picked up with bunker. Wednesday back out again early to fish till a bit after lunchtime only to pick up 6 catfish. Again all on bunker. All the catfish for the week were all 1 to 3 pounds. Nothing big.

Over the weekend I talked to several different guys out on the lower river. No great reports with most guys picking up several catfish all small and some smaller stripers. Most of the stripers were picked up with bloodworms. Way down river Paul picked up a 33 and 29 inch bass both with clams. He also had 4 smaller bass and 22 catfish. His catfish ranged 2 to 6 pounds. Jason fished the Navy Yard on Saturday catching 11 smaller bass and a bunch of white perch all with bloodworms.

Before the rains on Sunday night the upper river was really good for smallmouth bass, walleyes and stripers. Stripers were hitting well at Trenton, Yardley, Washington’s Crossing, Lambertville, Frenchtown and the Water Gap. Several guys fishing off the wing dam at New Hope with minnows and grubs have been catching smaller stripers, smallies and walleyes. Some bigger stripers were picked up in the wing dam and up in the rocks above the 202 bridge with live eels. Most of these fish were picked up at night. Mixed in were some 3 to 8 pound catfish. Kevin said the stripers have picked up at the Water Gap and down at Portland with live eels, live white perch and smaller live trout. Kevin has also been doing great on bass and walleyes with live minnows and Zoom grubs. One of the drift fishermen from Upper Black Eddy down to Bull’s Island over the weekend picked up 25 smallmouth bass, 4 walleyes and a bunch of small stripers. White, black and watermelon seed grubs were working best. Chris fishing way up river picked up 5 shad one evening with darts and spoons.

Penn Warner has still been hot for perch, crappies, bass and pickerel. Chuck and Jay still doing well with live minnows off the shoreline for perch, crappies and bass. Darren fished Monday on a cloudy day with buzz baits and rubber frogs. He picked up 28 largemouth bass 1 to 3 pounds. He also had a bunch of pickerel mixed in. Bill fishing live minnows and crankbaits have been catching 3 to 10 bass each trip to the club. Last week he picked up 4 fish over 5 pounds.

Talking to one fisherman on Burlington Island with spinner baits and plastic worms picked up several largemouth bass. Lower end of Core Creek has still been pretty good for perch and bluegills. Upper end slowed down with the rain making the water muddy. Jim fished Levittown Lake with 4-inch plastic worms and lizards landing 5 largemouth bass this past week. The landscaper fished the shopping center lake catching some smaller bass, bluegills and catfish with live minnows and nightcrawlers. Small lake in Yardley one fisherman picked up a bunch of bluegills with mealworms. The hatchery down the street was very good this past week for largemouth bass. One fisherman picked up 8 fish with live minnows that sent a bunch of other fisherman up for minnows. FDR park a couple guys were down looking for snakeheads but were happy to catch a few smaller bass and bluegills. They did best with earthworms and trout magnets. Ron headed back to Struble lake to still do well on bigger crappies and yellow perch fishing with live minnows, twister tails and trout magnets.

Ton of guys headed down to the shore for the holiday weekend. Dick had one of the best reports coming back from Brigantine catching drumfish and stripers. He picked up everything on salted clams.   He also said all weekend long everyone did just was well. He knew of over 50 drumfish 40 to 75 pound caught this past week. Stripers have been 30 to 43 inches. Lou picked up 2 big stripers at Wildwood. Both these fish were 40 plus inches. Danny said there are still a few weakfish being picked up at Fortescue with bloodworms. Smaller flounder are also being picked up with squid, minnows and gulp mullet. Back bay of Wildwood was very good for smaller flounder. These fish have been hitting squid, minnows, Gulp mullet and smaller bucktails the best. Not a keeper this past weekend. One fisherman behind Harrah’s with Gulp mullet on a jig head picked up 3 keeper flounder with a bunch of smaller sea bass this past Monday. Anthony picked up a bunch of drumfish right outside the inlet of Cape May. These fish were up to 60 pounds caught with clams. Another fisherman off the jetties in the upper Delaware Bay picked up a 7-pound weakfish with bloodworms in the rocks. Bluefishing has still been the hottest thing down the shore. From Brick north to Island State Park guys have been catching bluefish 6 to 15 pounds. Metals have been the main baits but guys have also been doing well with bucktails tipped with grubs, rubber shads, crankbaits and poppers. Jimmy fished out from of Barnegat for fluke doing well. He had a limit on Saturday and 3 keepers on Monday. Bigger bucktails and Gulp grubs were working best. His buddy was out 14 miles doing well on sea bass.

Jersey freshwater reports were really quite. John only fished on Friday with the holiday weekend. He picked up a bunch of smaller bass with rubber frogs. He saw several guys doing well with bigger crappies fishing marabou jigs under slip floats along the dam. Alex fished Mercer County Park picking up 11 pickerel and some smaller perch with live minnows and spinners. A couple guys fishing Maliga pond had a very good day with pickerel, crappies and perch. Live minnows, twister tails and spinners. One fisherman at Collin’s Cove picked up a bunch of stripers 15 to 18 inches all with bucktails with 4 inch white grubs.

Well that is all I have time for this week. I will be heading to the mountains next week so if my fishing report is late or missed, Sorry! Bill

Hi Bill, I fished 3 days this last week. Sat. I lost a big bluefish from the beach on LBI. Wed. I had 2 throwback fluke (14 and 17 3/4 inches) and a sand shark from my kayak in Tuckerton. On Thurs. me and a friend each had one throwback fluke on the High Roller in AC. THANKS FOR THE REPORTS. Den

Billy found that pond you were talking about up above point pleasant and had a blast there. Thought I was in Canada once I left the ramp area. Caught over 25 decent crappies and a bunch of smaller bass. Cant wait to put some more time in with the kids. Tom

Weather was pretty rough this past weekend but took a boat out of DAD’s place and fished all my favoite fluke darts with gulp. Had a great couple days with over 27 flounder only 1 keeper. Also caught a bunch of short stripers, small sea bass around the rocks and 4 sharks. Hope this coming weekend is better, Brett

    • only real access is from the jersey side. Park behind the lamberville station all the way down to the boat ramp. there you have to walk down river and to the wing dam. Pa side I don’t think you can park anywhere anymore.
