Fisherman Magazine Update

The crew of the “Just Got Reel” with Mike Salah, Brett Glatfelter and Amber Kelly all from Wilmington, DE, and Scott Binsfeld of Philadelphia, PA, boated a 297-pound thresher shark at the Old Grounds over the Memorial Day Weekend, weighed in at Hook ‘Em and Cook ‘Em. The coastal bunker schools continue getting harassed by monster stripers, and obviously it’s worth keeping an eye out for those whiptails in the mix too from this point on! Two immense stripers reported along the Jersey Shore since our last report, including a 51-pound bass in the North Wildwood surf and a near 53 taken along Ocean County stretch from Barnegat to Manasquan which is where much of the trolling and liveline bite can be found this week. First official doormat fluke of the season topping 13 pounds comes out of the Reach Channel in Monmouth County, while Cape May County jetties are giving up good numbers of Dream Boat quality weakfish. With all this inshore action coming alive now, it is worth a note to add that the tuna bite is beginning to take shape with bluefin being taken off the Jersey Coast and yellowfin reported in the southern canyons off the DELMARVA coast.
