Fisherman Magazine Update

Three-day weekend? Four? Could be a busy one there for the unofficial summer kickoff, but there’s plenty of action to go around. Official word is that the black drum bite on the Delaware Bay “is on,” while chunking post-spawn stripers along much of that same stretch continues. Weakfish have been taken along the Atlantic and Cape May County jetties since last weekend’s full moon, while the bluefish continue raging up the coast all the way into Raritan Bay. The liveline and trolling action between Beach Haven and Manasquan has been outstanding for those keeping an eye on surface action and electronics. A soggy start to the New Jersey fluke season only means some ready and willing customers to greet the weekend – forecast is calling for “grand slam” conditions for those who can find a quiet spot amidst the Memorial Day crowds. Black sea bass action should keep rods bent and coolers filled throughout the region this weekend. If you can’t find it this holiday weekend, you’re probably just not looking hard enough!Fish hard and God bless our troops!
