Fisherman Magazine Update

A lot going on this third weekend of March, with New Jersey youngsters making headlines for their legal-size stripers along the river banks and bunker making an early, epic showing throughout the region. Coastal tackle shops are gearing up for the run along the beach which is expected to begin to really kick into overdrive soon as stripers and blues continue their way back home towards their spring haunts, and perhaps a little earlier than normal! Winter flounder action has been hot and cold depending on location and moving water, but those two-fish per man limits are being filled rather quickly in the Central and North Jersey region. There’s just so much on the schedule this weekend in the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region, including a distance casting contest in Piscataway, dune grass planting in Delaware, onwater boat demos in Brielle, and of course the Saltwater Fishing Expo through Sunday out in Somerset. Also, be sure to visit for our full report from Wednesday’s meeting along the banks of the Navesink River, where a one-man crusade to create a National Marine Sanctuary in Monmouth County finally met head-on with a couple of hundred angry fishermen.
